Witchy Reads

In today’s post I thought since its October I’d talk about some books that I’ve read that have witches in them. Paranormal/Urban Fantasy is one of my favourite genres so I’ve read a lot of books that have witches as side characters or that are mentioned in a passing way but I decided to make a list of the witchy books where witches feature predominantly in it. Some of these books I loved and some I didn’t like as much but I thought I’d include them because other people might enjoy them.

witchy books1
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
– I read Hex Hall years ago and I loved the trilogy. It’s such a fun paranormal book set in a boarding school. The main character is a witch and I loved how witty and funny she was.

Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin – This is a book I read earlier this year and was disappointed by. I didn’t care for the characters but I did like the spooky atmosphere of it. It has witches and a creepy house and even though I was disappointed by it I feel that someone would love to read this type of book.

Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle – I loved this book when I read it a few years ago. I don’t know if the word witches is mentioned or not in this book, I can’t remember but there are spells so I think it counts. This has such an autumn atmospheric vibe to it and I would highly recommend reading it at this time of the year.

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw – The Wicked Deep is all about witches and it also has a spooky vibe to it. I didn’t like enjoy this one but a lot of people have.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
– I don’t think the witches appear in this series until the third of fourth book but I really liked reading about them especially Manon, she became such an interesting character as this series went on.

Harry Potter by J.K Rowling – This one kind of goes without saying, obviously it’s on this list.

Perfectly Preventable Deaths by Deirdre Sullivan – This was a recent read of mine and one on my tbr for this month. I liked the atmosphere in this book and it has got witchy things in it but I was also disappointed in this one and didn’t like the characters. I will be posting my review of it soon.

The Secret Circle by LJ Smith – I read The Secret Circle years ago and enjoyed them. I’ve loved a lot of LJ Smith books and I think her writing style is great for the spooky season.

I know I’ve probably forgotten a lot of obvious witch books so what ones have I not listed that you’ve read? Have you read any of the ones above?
