Book Review: Reclaimed (Shadow Beast Shifters #2) by Jaymin Eve

reclaimedBook: Reclaimed
Series: Shadow Beast Shifters #2
Author: Jaymin Eve
Genre: Adult/New adult, fantasy paranormal romance

They all made a terrible mistake. One they will pay for.

For the past ten years I’ve been a victim. A victim to my pack. A victim to my true mate, who rejected me in the most brutal of ways. And a victim to Shadow Beast, who used me for his own gains.

Or did he?

The beast of mystery never reveals his whole hand, but one thing is for sure… in my time with him, I’ve changed. Now I will no longer walk the path dictated by the powerful men in my life. Never again will I let my strength be taken from me.

I must evolve or die.

And we all know, with a choice like that, there’s really only one answer.

My Rating: 5 STARS

My Review:

Reclaimed starts off right where Rejected ended and I really liked that. At the end of Rejected Mera gets very angry as she finds out about Dannie and with her anger comes some very interesting new powers. I loved that for almost all of this book Mera’s pack was not in it. In Rejected I disliked the parts of the story that involved the wolf pack and I was glad that this book had very minimal (almost none) scenes with the wolf pack. Most of Reclaimed is focused on Mera and Shadow exploring the shadow realm and finding out more about what happened and why Shadow was not allowed in.

The relationship between Shadow and Mera was very intriguing to read. I loved how they push each other’s buttons and their dynamic is so captivating to read, I loved the banter between them. In the first book I thought Mera was an okay character but I grew to love her as this book went on. She has a very open personality and I love how she just says what she thinks. She did this in the first book too but it wasn’t until reading this book where I fully appreciated her character and personality. It’s interesting that she’s so open and Shadow so closed off.

The plot was also very intriguing and I liked the focus on the shadow realm and the mystery behind it. I loved Mera finding out more about who she is and the powers she has. There were also some really interesting twists in the story too.

Overall I loved Reclaimed and the relationship and romance between Shadow and Mera is my favourite thing about the series, their chemistry and connection with each other mixed with the banter between them makes them one of my new favourite fantasy romance couples. I also really enjoyed the plot and I’m glad it didn’t focus on the wolf pack and I can’t wait to read the next.
