ttt- books with colours in the title

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is: Books with Colours In The Titles. It was interesting to see how many book titles had a colour in them, I thought there would’ve been more but it was surprising few.

The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu
Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman
Out of the Blue by Sophie Cameron
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Orange by Ichigo Takano
The Black Wolf (In The Company of Killers #5) by J.A. Redmerski
Into the Still Blue (Under the Never Sky #3) by Veronica Rossi
Black City by Elizabeth Richards
The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead

What are some books you’ve read that have colours in the titles?

Top Ten Tuesday – Books That Make Me Smile

ttt- books that make me smile1

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is: Books That Make Me Smile. I picked five books that I feel have a kind of ‘happy’ vibe to them that makes me smile looking back on the book. These are five books that I enjoyed and I feel have a lightness to the story of them (if that makes sense).

iwbft
I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman – The talk of fandom and music groups in this book made me smile because it reminds me of my love for kpop groups.

uads

Under A Dancing Star by Laura Wood – I loved how honest and open the main character Bea is in this book, her personality really made me smile.

alwtasap.jpg

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers – I loved how the world/universe was described in this book and that along with the group of characters it centres on made me smile.

tgc1

Three Mages and a Margarita (The Guild Codex: Spellbound #1) by Annette Marie – I feel like I talk about this series a lot but it’s such a fun story and I love the group of characters and the homely setting of the bar/pub they all work in.

nimona.jpg

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson – It’s been a few years since I read this graphic novel but I remember the artwork and characters made me smile, I feel like I need to reread it because I remember loving it so much.

What books make you smile?

Top Ten Tuesday (which is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl) turns 10 this week and although I’ve only been book blogging for a few years I have been following the book blogging community and I’ve been reading everyone’s TTT posts for years longer. There was two options given for this week’s topic but I decided to just go with ‘Books That I’ve Loved and Want More People To Read’ since it’s probably the main reason why us book bloggers all started off blogging, to shout about our love for books.

Top Ten Tuesday – Interesting Opening Lines

ttt-opening lines

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is: Opening Lines. I went with the opening lines that I thought were interesting and different.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Today is the first day of November and so, today, someone will die.

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

The early summer sky was the color of cat vomit.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I’ve been locked up for 264 days.

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

When Red wins, she stands alone.

The Exact Opposite of Okay (Izzy O’Neill book 1) by Laura Steven

Look, you probably bought this book because you read the blurb about how I’m an impoverished orphan and also at the heart of a national slut-shaming scandal, and you thought, Oh great, this is just the kind of heart-wrenching tale I need to feel better about my own life, but seriously, you have to relax.

A Girl Called Shameless (Izzy O’Neill book 2) by Laura Steven

The thing about sex scandals is that you never quite get used to your grandmother having seen you naked.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I had just come to accept that my life would be ordinary when extraordinary things began to happen.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles book 1) by Marissa Meyer

The screw through Cinder’s ankle had rusted, the engraved cross marks worn to a mangled circle.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I’m going to die tomorrow morning.

Do you find these lines interesting?
What are some opening lines you like?
